Welcome to Need A Witness UK. This guide explains the practical basics of using the platform as an independent witness, including how bookings work, what is expected at ceremonies, and how payments and communication are handled.
Your role is to attend an accepted ceremony booking and act as a witness where you are capable of doing so. Requirements can vary depending on the type of ceremony, registrar or ceremony official, venue, and applicable law.

You are responsible for planning your own travel to and from accepted bookings unless a specific arrangement says otherwise. Allow enough time for foreseeable delays and contact Need A Witness UK immediately if you believe you may be late.
Any travel payment, mileage contribution, or reimbursement due to you will be shown or agreed as part of the relevant booking or payout arrangement.
Once you accept a booking, you are expected to make every reasonable effort to attend. If an emergency or other problem means you cannot attend, notify Need A Witness UK as soon as possible so that a replacement can be sought.
Repeated late cancellations, unexplained absences, or no-shows may result in suspension or removal from the platform.
Payments are made for completed bookings based on the payout shown or agreed for the job, subject to any applicable platform terms or deductions disclosed to you.
Payments are sent using the payment details you provide. You are responsible for keeping those details accurate and for dealing with any tax, National Insurance, or other obligations relating to your income.
You should remain reasonably reachable on the day of an accepted booking and respond promptly to important messages relating to it. If we cannot contact you and there is a reasonable concern that the booking may not be fulfilled, we may seek a replacement witness.
Customer contact and booking information must only be used as reasonably necessary to fulfil an accepted booking. Do not use customer details for unrelated personal or commercial purposes, and do not share them unnecessarily.
Need A Witness UK processes witness information for platform administration, booking allocation, communications, payments, support, and safety in accordance with its Privacy Policy and applicable data-protection law.

Before accepting your first job, make sure your contact, availability, and payment details are accurate, and read the Witness Agreement and Witness Code of Conduct. If a booking includes a dress-code preference, venue instruction, or other important note, review it before travelling.
By registering as a witness and using the platform, you confirm that you understand your responsibilities and agree to follow the Witness Agreement, Witness Code of Conduct, and other applicable platform policies.
