This Liability Disclaimer applies to all users of Need A Witness UK (“the Platform”). By using our services, you acknowledge and agree to the limitations of liability outlined below.

1. Platform Role

Need A Witness UK operates solely as an introductory platform connecting couples with independent self‑employed witnesses. We do not employ the witnesses, nor do we provide the witness services ourselves.

2. Independent Witnesses

All witnesses are self‑employed independent contractors. They are responsible for:

• their own punctuality and attendance
• their own conduct and behaviour
• their own tax and National Insurance obligations
• their own travel arrangements

We are not liable for the actions, omissions, or behaviour of independent witnesses.

3. No Guarantee of Specific Individuals

We do not guarantee the attendance of any specific witness. Bookings are for the witness service, not a named individual.

4. No‑Show or Late Arrival

In the event that a witness becomes unavailable, our responsibility is limited to:

• attempting to provide a replacement witness; or
• offering a refund of the witness fee paid to us

We are not liable for any additional costs, losses, or damages arising from lateness or non‑attendance.

5. Limitations of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Need A Witness UK is not liable for:

• indirect, incidental, or consequential losses
• emotional distress or disappointment
• costs incurred due to registrar or venue delays
• travel, accommodation, or supplier fees
• any issues caused by incorrect information provided by the customer

Our total liability is strictly limited to the amount you have paid us for the witness service.

6. Customer Responsibilities

You are responsible for ensuring that:

• all ceremony details provided to us are accurate
• you notify us promptly of any changes
• the venue and registrar permit external witnesses

7. Legal Compliance

Witnesses must meet UK legal requirements, including:

• being over 16 (local authority rules may vary)
• having the mental capacity to understand the ceremony
• speaking and understanding English sufficiently to witness declarations

8. Governing Law

This disclaimer is governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be handled exclusively by the courts of England and Wales.
